Health Facilities in Pakistan for COVID-19: Ministry of National Health Services

On 12th of February, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulation & Coordination Pakistan presented a plane “National Action Plan for Preparedness & Response to Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) Pakistan”, the aims to control the spreading of virus and to strengthen country and community emergency preparedness to ensure a timely, efficient and effective response to potential events due to COVID-19. To date, different steps have been taken by the government of Pakistan against the COVID-19 outbreak. In this article, we highlighted these steps regarding health facilities such as designated hospitals, quarantine centers, and labs with testing facilities across the country.

According to a report on 9 May 2020, the minister of National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) on coronavirus informed that there were 5000 Intensive Care Units (ICU) available in the country out of which 1500 had been fixed for the corona patients while only 132 patients were admitted in the ICUs. Similarly, he said the country had 1400 ventilators and by June this year and the number would rise to 2000. He informed that at present 35 corona patients were on ventilators. 

Punjab

In Punjab six hospitals are designated for COVID-19 patients. These are present in Rawalpindi, Lahore, Multan, Sialkot, Faisalabad, and Rahim Yar Khan. Sindh has four such hospitals, three from Karachi and one from Hyderabad. In KPK, seven hospitals are facilitated for COVID-19, four in Peshawar, and the rest are in Swabi, Swat, and Abbottabad. In Balochistan ten such hospitals are present in Quetta, Chaghi, Lasbela, Gwadar, and Turbat. And In Gilgit-Baltistan, Hunza, Gilgit, Chilas, and Skardu have such hospitals. In Azad Jammu & Kashmir, Muzaffarabad, Mirpur, and Rawalakot have such hospitals. In Islamabad, Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) designated with COVID-19 facilities.

Isolation is the separation of ill or infected persons from others, so as to prevent the spread of infection or contamination. The hospitals use for isolation for COVID-19 people widely disturbed in provinces which arise the good gesture which being use in this scenario throughout Pakistan to control the outbreak of COVID-19. Health Facilities in Pakistan for COVID-19: Quarantine of COVID-19

The Quarantines being used to restrict the activities or separation of persons (in a non-health care facility) who were not ill yet, but who might have been exposed to an infectious agent or disease such as COVID 19 with the objective of monitoring symptoms and early detection of cases. The places use for Quarantine of COVID-19 people widely disturbed in provinces. The total number of Quarantine’s 23,557 in 139 districts of the Pakistan which arise the good gesture which being use in this scenario throughout Pakistan to control the outbreak of COVID-19.
